FOR THAT
I'M SORRY

[A2 MUSIC VIDEO]

In my second year studying at S6C, I was tasked with creating a music video as my primary piece with a team comprised of my classmates. I also had to create two ancillary pieces of work that had relevance to the primary piece. The ancillary pieces I produced were an album digipak and a promotional poster. These two items were to be branded and themed the same as the core music video project. Above all this was to create a uniformity between the items. We selected a song by BATTS called For That I’m Sorry as our track to create a music video for.

My personal contributions to the final piece included:

  • Sole editor for the entire piece.
  • Responsible for footage management, this included where it was stored, and compiling it into one place that synchronised with the cloud to make editing between workstations simpler.
  • Lead effects designer and producer, clips that had lens whacking, parallaxing, or other effects were made by myself.
  • In charge of the filming formats of the piece, it was something that was overlooked in the first year as the cameras used were set to a default recording setting. This time around I filmed the footage at 43Mbps compressed in a MOV file format, the final rendering resolution was 1920×1080 at 24fps, a standard.

PROMOTIONAL POSTER & DIGIPAK

For this aspect of the For That I’m Sorry music video project, I took some of the test renders of the edited footage and placed them into a poster and album digipak. This was targeted at promoting the music video and album. I used similar material for both the digipak and the poster to ensure the theme of the media pieces was uniform.

The use of colour correction and synthesised lens whacking effects created a colourful aurora styled overlay to the shots. I did this to make the shots more appealing to the eye for the target audience. In addition, I did this attract attention on the promotional material, should it actually be the used in public advertising.
